“Project iView” started when the need for a logging and reporting solution was felt by Cyberoam team to empower its customers to know who is accessing what resources in their network. In the wake of rising security threats, growing list of industry compliances, and news of financial massacres due to data leakage spread over reams of paper, the team took up the task of developing a solution to make organizations aware of what is happening in every nook and cranny of their network.

Why open source? The Cyberoam team is made up of highly experienced IT professionals who regularly take help of the open source community to support their R&D efforts and are also active contributors in open source forums and communities. We decided to salute the spirit of open source camaraderie as a team and shape iView into an open source product as our contribution to the community. In interest of the community, we decided to support multiple products and not just Cyberoam to take iView’s scope beyond Cyberoam.

We believe in the strength of the open source community and know that iView will develop fastest among this group of techies. In fact, to maximize iView’s reach, we look forward to achieving community participation to make it interoperable with multiple vendors and appliances and also to develop it as a compliance management solution, meeting the country-specific as well as global regulatory compliance requirements.

The best thing about an open source solution is the flexibility it gives to users to keep it as simple or as complex as they want in their system. You have the code and you have complete freedom to experiment, learn from, improve and adopt it. With Cyberoam iView, you have complete flexibility to add more reports, make changes or control the way you want the reporting. No proprietary vendor lock-ins or per client license fees to be paid before integrating the code into the system.

Cyberoam is committed to developing iView and put all the effort it takes to generate community support to make iView a desired solution.
